Umrah is one of the holiest practices for Muslims all around the world. However, due to the lack of proper travel advisory, many pilgrims face problems before traveling. But worry no more. Great News! Saudi government uplifted travel restrictions
According to the new Umrah season initiated on 3rd August 2022, the Saudi government has removed the mandatory submission of negative PCR and rapid antigen tests upon arrival in the country. Moreover, for the first time in two years, pilgrims will be able to move near Holy Kaaba since barriers have been removed. However, pilgrims will have to present vaccination certificates upon arrival.
The list of approved vaccines include
- Moderna
- Pfizer/BioNTech
- Janssen
- Oxford/AstraZeneca
In addition to these vaccines, pilgrims will also have to consider the following vaccine certificates as well:
Yellow Fever Vaccination: All foreign pilgrims traveling from nations or regions at risk for yellow fever must provide a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate proving they received the shot no more than 10 years before their arrival and no more than 10 days prior.
Meningococcal Meningitis vaccine: All foreign pilgrims must receive a meningococcal meningitis vaccination at least ten days and no more than three years prior to their arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Polio vaccine: Pilgrims from red-listed countries need to have polio vaccines at least 6 weeks before their arrival in the kingdom.
